Bodybuilders and their magazines can confuse you. They would normally put so much emphasis on protein powders and supplements. They use them while exercising and the fact that they like them is not a guarantee that you should follow suit. You can stick to your high protein diet plan. You would only do this when you can get the right attitude for them.

In short, they are into marketing. They are simply trying to endorse the products and it is a job they are doing. The truth lies somewhere though and you need to find out what it is. The big question which you need to find out is probably how the protein powders and the supplements would fare when they are placed one on one with high protein foods such as meat, beans, egg whites and dairy.

There is nothing as bad entirely. Protein powders and supplements come with an unbeaten level of convenience. You would not have to prepare them, cook or something, they are always ready for consumption. The bodybuilders prefer them for this reason. They have not that time for preparation and cooking and so they greatly love to just drink supplements and get the nutrients they need for exercise. The other thing is that they do not have that time to stick to an eating plan where they have scheduled meals or smaller portions. They are on the go and that is the support they want.

The advantages of protein supplements do not just end on convenience. There are a few other pluses they get against the protein rich foods and so you would not entirely overrule them. You can try having protein shake instead of the chocolate bar or other take away meals occasionally.

Protein supplements would be useful for those who wish to lose weight. When you have a better understanding on what they can accord you, you would be more comfortable trying them and you would witness the desired results. To lose weight, increase your protein intake and cut down greatly on carbs.

On the other hand, whole foods are more nutritious. You need to weigh the pros and cons of supplements against whole foods carefully because not all situations are the same. It depends on what you wish to achieve and this would determine the best option for you. You would either choose protein supplement or meat better when you understand what each of them would mean to you.

It is better that you take protein supplement and not meat that would bring in some high fats levels and cholesterol that is not best for your health. If after careful consideration you realize that you need to opt for the meat, you should choose lean meat, chicken or fish. Bottom line, protein powder and supplements are better options than fast food meat any time.

As you can see, nothing is ruled out completely. It is upon you to make the right decision and on different occasions, protein supplement would take the lead and on some situations, it would be the meat. Gather all facts and use them for informed decisions.
